Our main goal is to free 900 out of every 1000 benefitting households from severe diarrheal diseases

Providing clean and safe water is the starting point

We understand that without water, nothing can progress; be it sanitation, education or economic development. This is why access to safe water is the critical wheel to sustainable development.

What we do

We are a team of change-makers

We are ensuring that every family, every child has an opportunity to life that is free from water-related diseases. We have purposed to empower beneficiaries with improved access to safe Water, Sanitation and Hygiene using Community Centred Design Approaches

MENSTRUAL HYGIENE MANAGEMENT

Safe water access

Clean and safe water changes lives

From economic empowerment to education, to health, safe water access plays an important role in the development of the nation. Availability of water means mothers spending more time in the garden, children having enough time to concentrate on school activities and families spending less money in hospital bills.

Sanitation & hygiene

Sanitation is more than just toilets, it is the facilities and behaviours

Adequate sanitation is essential to childhood survival and development, improving children’s education, increasing productivity and building resilience in the face of disease. Our program focuses on training communities on the benefits of proper hygiene both personal and general to improve on their health.

GIRL CHILD EMPOWERMENT & EDUCATION

Mentsrual Hygiene Management

A UNESCO report (UNESCO, 2014) estimates that one in ten girls in Sub-Saharan Africa misses school during their menstrual cycle. According to a study carried out by SNV in primary schools in Uganda, half the girls in the study reported missing 1-3 days of school due to menstruation per month.

AWS would like to address these challenges that cause poor menstrual hygiene management in schools by empowering the girls to face the obstacles to management of menstrual hygiene with pride and dignity.

STORIES OF CHANGE

We do believe in people

Change in communities is totally led by the community members themselves. Our role is simply to bring to the realisation of what can be done differently. After realising the difference it makes, the change sticks permanently.
