AWS program is operating in 11 districts: Kisoro, Rubanda, Kanungu, Buikwe, Tororo, Busia, Kumi, Kamuli, Pakwach,  Nebbi and Madi-Okollo districts. In all the 11 districts, the key guiding principle for selection, was the level of need for improved access to Safe Water, Proper Sanitation and Hygiene. Areas with water stress, with poor latrine coverage, and with collaborative high infections of diarrhoea diseases ranked high on the priority list.
