Petta Solar Powered Borehole

The Petta Solar powered project is an initiative of Africa Water Solutions in partnership with Tororo District local government aimed at contributing to the provision of 25 litres of water per day to over 300 households in Machari East, Machari West, Kathowa South or Kathowa North Zones in Mbula parish, Petta Sub County Tororo district.  It is made up of 30 villages distributed in 4 parishes (Mbula, Pakoi, Ramogi and Petta).  Petta Sub County has a total population of 17,924 people and a population density of 535 people per kilometre.

This system has a pumping capacity of 4m3 and a reservoir capacity of 40m3 and is covering a total distance of 6.09 km from the source to the points of distribution spread through 4 villages and 2 trading centres. The system has 8 water distribution points; 5 PSPs in the communities and 3-yard connections including Mbula Machari Primary School and Mbula Health Centre II.
